September 16 (Friday): Peace Activists meet at Congressman's Office in Coram at 4-6pm

On Sept. 16th from 4pm-6pm, members of South Country Peace Group, Suffolk Peace Network and others will be visiting the Coram Office of Rep. Timothy Bishop. They intend to call on the congressman to 'recant his vote' for the war. They will read the names of dead US soldiers. Similar actions will be held at Rep. Caroline McCarthy's office in Garden City and Rep. Garry Ackerman's office in Bayside, Queens.

Congressman Bishop's office is on Route 112 near Middle Country Road.

September 16 (Friday): OLA Film Festival- Loco Fever (Chile) & Motorcycle Diaries (USA) in Southampton at 5:30pm

Two films in Spanish with English sub-titles will be shown as part of the OLA Film Festival on Friday evening at 5:30 pm at the Parrish Art Museum. The film festival continues on Sunday at Guild Hall in East Hampton at 5:30 (see September 18 below). Presented by Organizacion Latino Americana and supported by the New York State Council on the Arts and others.

The film "Uncovered: The War On Iraq" will be shown at the Bridgehampton Bank Community Room following the East End Vets meeting which starts at 7 pm on Friday

September 17 (Saturday): US Constitution -The Reading at Whalers Church, Sag Harbor 6pm

The East End Bill of Rights Defense Committee will hold a public reading of the U.S. Constitution Saturday September 9 starting promptly at 6 pm at the historic Whaler's Church in Sag Harbor.
Also early American music will be performed.

Members of the community are invited to join us in reading aloud a portion of the U.S. Constitution on the day set aside by Congress to celebrate this covenant between the government and its people.

September 24 (Saturday): United for Peace & Justice and A.N.S.W.E.R. Joint Rally in DC to End Iraq War: - Buses from LI

United for Peace & Justice and International A.N.S.W.E.R. will join forces for a joint rally and march on Septermber 24 in Washington, D.C.

Buses from many points on Long Island are being arranged for Saturday September 24 round trips to DC.

September 30 to October 2 (Friday-Sunday) Exhibition of Honor the Fallen memorial at Camp Quinipet, Shelter Island

The memorial with photos and biographies of soldiers who died in Afhanistan and Iraq will be shown.

October 9 (Sunday): Benefit &Celebration - South Fork Chapter Long Island Progressive Coalition in East Hampton at 3pm

Join the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the South Fork Chapter of LI Progessive Coalition.
Special guest speaker is Michael Ratner, Vice President of the Center for Constitutional Rights.
Honorees are Joseph Giannini of the East End Veterans, Linda Kabot, Southampton Town Concil, Judy Lerner of Peace Action and Lucius Ware, President of the Eastern LI Branch of NAACP.

Mondays in Farmingville:

Herstory Writers Workshop meets every Monday afternoon at the Farmingville branch of the Workplace Project from 3 to 5. Both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking women come together to share and shape their life experiences through memoir writing. The workshop is conducted in both English and Spanish. Thursdays in East Hampton:

Every Thursday women come together to share their writing with one another and receive feedback on how to structure and shape their lifewriting.The East Hampton workshop is open to East Hampton Town residents. It meets every Thursday, 7-9 p.m., at the Senior Citizens Center, 128 Springs-Fireplace Road.
