Not One Damn Dime on Jan. 20, 2005

Since our political leaders don't have the moral courage to oppose it,

Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th,

is "Not One Damn Dime Day" in America.

On Not One Damn Dime Day those who oppose what is happening in our
name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms
of consumer spending. During Not One Damn Dime Day please don't spend
money. Not one damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for
necessities or for impulse purchases.

Not One Damn Dime Day for anything for 24 hours!

Democracy doesn't work without citizen activism ...

"It's a fact: Democracy doesn't work without citizen activism and participation, starting at the community. It's also a fact that civilization happens because we don't leave things to other people.

What's right and good doesn't come naturally. You have to stand up and fight for it - as if the cause depends on you, because it does. Allow yourself that conceit - to believe that the flame of democracy will never go out as long as there's one candle in your hand."

Bill Moyers

Darkness cannot drive out darkness

Darkness cannot drive out darkness;

only light can do that.

Hate cannot drive out hate;

only love can do that.

Hate multiplies hate,

violence multiplies violence,

and toughness multiplies toughness

in a descending spiral of destruction...

The chain reaction of evil --

hate begetting hate,

wars producing more wars --

must be broken, or we shall be plunged

into the darkness of annihilation.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
