August 30 (Sunday):Monthly Candlelight vigil at the Four Corners (S. Ocean & Main St.) in Patchogue with the reading of the names of those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. July 2009 has been the deadliest month in the war in Afghanistan since October 2001…..this is a war that George W Bush started and President Obama sadly continues…..Organized by the South Country Peace Group

September 12 (Saturday): PeaceSmiths Annual Fundraising Concert in Amityville at 4pm

PeaceSmiths will hold its annual Fundraising Concert at the First United Methodist Church, 25 Broadway(Route110), Amityville, NY. The church is at the southmost end of Route 110 near Merrick Road (Montauk Highway), and is affectionately known as the last church on the left. The evening's performers include Mark Yodice; Ken “The Rocket” Korb and Lora Kendal; Jeff Curtis; Rich Stein’s “The Counterclockwise Ensemble” and "Easy Anthems." The night of music and dinner is available for a $25.00 donation. The doors open at 4 p.m. for dinner.
