April 22,23 (Friday, Saturday): Earth Festival at Southampton Campus LIU starting 11am

The Earth Festival will include Marine Station Tours (2-5pm on Friday), speakers on wide range of environmental and social issues, music and free BBQ(at 4pm Friday), 'veggie' car and hybrid car exhibits. Festival from 11am to 12 Midnight on Friday and 11am to 9pm on Saturday at Southampton Campus of LIU. info at 631-287-8956

A film about 'peak oil' and its effect on the suburban way of life will be shown at the Duke Lecture Hall in the Chancellor's Building at the Southampton Campus of LIU at 7pm. info Scott.Carlin@liu.edu

April 28 (Thursday): Film on Retail Giant v. Small Town-"Talking to the Wall" in Sag Harbor at 7pm

The film "Talking to the Wall-The Story of an American Bargain" will be shown at Bay St Theater, Sag Harbor on Thursday April 28 at 7pm. "Talking to the Wall" tells the story of a retail giant thwarted by the citizens of a small town. Filmaker Steve Alves will speak after the screening. The film is sponsored by "BOX-BUSTERS" a coalition of groups opposed to the development in Bridgehampton of a 'Big Box' retail complex.The retail complex is being planned at taxpayers expense by the Southampton Town Planning department working with the developer inspite of zoning restrictions & anti-superstore legislation.

April 30 (Saturday): Discussion on Iraq - Portrait of a Pre-Emptive War in Southampton 3pm

The 'Costs of War' is the title of a discussion to be held at the United Methodist Church at 160 Main St in Southampton on Saturday April 30 from 3 to 5 pm. The discussion will cover casualties, psychological effects on soldiers and losses to families as well as the loss of resources for domestic programs. Keynote Speakers: Rev. Osagyefo Sekou of Clergy and Laity Concerned About the War and Nancy Lessen of Military Families Speak Out. Photos of the war dead and grave markers from recent memorial services will be displayed. May 3(Community Pot-Luck Diner & Conversation in Water Mill at 7pm)

You are welcome to come to a community conversation and potluck dinner ...this is a continuation of the bi-lingual discussion that we had on March 1 after viewing the Farmingville documentary. On Tuesday may 3 at 7 pm community members and elected town officials areinvited to share a meal and stories of their own immigrant histories so thatwe can get to know one another as neighbors and begin to create a richly diverse community for all who live, work, and reside in Southampton Town. The dinner will be at the Incarnation Lutheran Church on Montauk Highway at Hayground Road between Water Mill and Bridgehampton.

If you can please bring a covered dish, beverage, dessert etc. to share... hope you will be there!
