April 16, 17 (Saturday, Sunday): Spirit of Spring Festival at Shinnecock 11am to 4pm


Welcome Spring at the Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center and Museum located at Montauk Highway and West Gate Road. Crafts by Shinnecock artisans will be displayed including stone, antler and wood carving, jewelery, candles. Refreshments, baked goods available.

April 17 (Sunday) Discussion: Defense of the Bill of Rights Resolution in Water Mill at 2pm

A panel including Jared Feurer, Jay Schniederman & others will discuss a resolution to be presented to the east end towns and the Suffolk Legislature on Defense of the Bill of Rights. The meeting is scheduled for 2pm at the Water Mill Community House on Route 27.



April 17 (Sunday): East End Women in Black Vigil for Peace at Sag Harbor Wharf 3pm

East End Women in Black stand for peace and justice for all people. Join us to oppose the war in Iraq and the occupations of Iraq and Palestine at 3pm on Sunday, April 17 at the Wharf in Sag Harbor. We say 'Support the troops and bring them home now!'

April 19 (Tuesday): Film on Retail Giant v. Small Town-"Talking to the Wall" in Southampton at 7pm

The film "Talking to the Wall-The Story of an American Bargain" will be shown at Chancellor's Building - Duke Lecture Hall on the LIU Southampton Campus on Tuesday, April 19 at 7pm.
"Talking to the Wall" tells the story of a retail giant thwarted by the citizens of a small town.
The film is sponsored by "BOX-BUSTERS" a coalition of groups opposed to the development in Bridgehampton of a 'Big Box' retail complex.

FYI: The next meeting of the organization formerly known as Sachem Quality of Life is scheduled for April 21st at the Sequoya Middle School, Waverly Ave., Holtsville @ 7:15 p.m. Tentative guest speaker is Brookhaven Town Supervisor John LaValle. This organization is opposed to immigrant day laborers and those who have tried to improve their working conditions.



April 22,23 (Friday, Saturday): Earth Festival at Southampton Campus LIU starting 11am

The Earth Festival will include Marine Station Tours (2-5pm on Friday), speakers on wide range of environmental and social issues, music and free BBQ(at 4pm Friday), 'veggie' car and hybrid car exhibits. Festival from 11am to 12 Midnight on Friday and 11am to 9pm on Saturday at Southampton Campus of LIU.

April 30 (Saturday): Discussion on Iraq - Portrait of a Pre-Emptive War in Southampton 3pm

The 'Costs of War' is the title of a discussion to be held at the United Methodist Church at 160 Main St in Southampton on Saturday April 30 from 3 to 5 pm. The discussion will cover casualties, psychological effects on soldiers and losses to families as well as the loss of resources for domestic programs.

Invited Keynote Speakers: Rev. Osagyefo Sekou of Clergy and Laity Concerned About the War and Nancy Lessen of Military Families Speak Out.

Photos of the war dead and grave markers from recent memorial services will be displayed.

The event is sponsored by the East End Interfaith Task Force and the Eastern Long Island NAACP with the help of the North Fork People of Conscience, East End Veterans for Peace and the United Methodist Church of Southampton, Rev. Jack King, Pastor

Every Thursday women come together to share their writing with one another and receive feedback on how to structure and shape their life writing.

The East Hampton workshop is open to East Hampton Town residents. It meets every Thursday, 7-9 p.m., at the Senior Citizens Center, 128 Springs-Fireplace Road.
