April 30(Saturday): Sign Up Deadline for Draft Resistance and C O Training in BellportPaul Frazier of the Syracuse Peace Council will give training here on Long Island on draft resistance and conscientious objector options. The location is the UU Fellowship of Bellport. The training is in two parts; the first on Sat. May 14 and the second on Sat. May 21, from 12:30 to 3:30 on both days. The cost is $25 which includes both sessions and the rental of the UU.
The deadline to sign up is April 30 (this Saturday). Please contact Sheila at scroke@verizon.net. Include your full name and mailing address for material to be forwarded to you. Space will be reserved for the first 10 persons and others will be kept on a waiting list.
April 30 (Saturday):April 30(Saturday): Iraq Memorial with Speakers and Discussions and Exhibits in Southampton 3 to 5pm A memorial to soldiers who have died in Iraq and a discussion of the costs of the war and how to end it will take place Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 at the United Methodist Church in Southampton. The Church is at 160 North Main St at Post Crossing in Southampton where Jack King is Pastor.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Reverend Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou, educator, writer and National Coordinator of Clergy and Laity Concerned about Iraq. Reverend Sekou, the author of 'Urbansouls', has taught at east end schools, conducted a lecture tour with Dr. Cornel West of Princeton and particpated in peace services on the east end and at Riverside Church in New York.
Reverend Sekou notes, "Our urgent and pressing aim is to end both the U.S. war and occupation of Iraq...we work for a new policy by the U.S. government...and call upon people of faith to honor the sacredness of all life and to highlight the immoral character of the war in Iraq."
Other speakers and guests include Joseph Giannini, U.S. Marine veteran and a founder of East End Veterans for Peace, Nicholas Cohen, former US Army Ranger and Ken Komoski of the Peconic Bay Monthly Meeting of Friends (Quakers).
The event is sponsored by the Ad Hoc April 30 Committee, East End Direct Action, East End Vets for Peace, the Eastern Long Island branch of the NAACP, North Fork People of Conscience and the Peconic Bay Monthly Meeting of Friends (Quakers).
Exhibitions include a photos of 1500 US military dead and an installation of more than 1500 grave markers which were set up on the East Hampton Green recently.
The program will include group discussions regarding the costs of pre-emptive war workshops that challenge us to pursue peace.

Join EEGO at the Bridgehampton National Bank on Sunday, May 1st at noon as we MEET UP to talk about HIV/AIDS. Dr. John Oppenheimer, infectious disease specialist, will give us a medical update on latest treatments; Rob Berry, an east end resident living with HIV/AIDS for more than 15 years will provide personal testimony; Tom Kirdahy will talk about local, state and national issues; a representative from a global AIDS group will provide insights into what is and is not happening in our efforts to fight the virus worldwide; and a policy expert will explain what we can do right here at home to reignite the fight.

The theme is "Media to Comfort and Protect the Wealthy, the Privileged, and the Powerful"
On Monday May 2: Robert Greenwald's "Outfoxed: Robert Murdoch's War Against the Media" will be screened.
Is Fox News Fair and balanced'? For the first time ever, this documentary reveals the secrets of former Fox News producers, reporters, bookers and writers who expose what it's like to work for Fox News. These former Fox employees talk about how they were forced to push a 'right-wing' point of view or risk their jobs. (The film will be shown in english with Spanish subtitles).

On Tuesday may 3 at 7 pm community members and elected town officials areinvited to share a meal and stories of their own immigrant histories so thatwe can get to know one another as neighbors and begin to create a richly diverse community for all who live, work, and reside in Southampton Town. The dinner will be at the Incarnation Lutheran Church on Montauk Highway at Hayground Road between Water Mill and Bridgehampton.
