Demolitions tells about his work and explains the reality of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.

WPKN presents the Reverend Holly Haile Davis and the singing Thunder Bird Sisters of the Shinnecock Nation on Long Island. The program was recorded as they led the Sunday service at the First Universalist Church of Southold, New York on January 14 of this year.

Reverend Holly Haile Davis is the first Native-American woman ordained as a Presbyterian minister.

The program includes musical selections by the Thunder Bird Sisters and stories from the gospel according to some Native Americans.

Susan Blake

Susan Blake, the dynamo behind Long Island's Peacesmiths, a tireless activist for peace and justice passed away this week. Susan organized monthly programs in Amityville with poets and musicians dedicated to peace. Her organizing for countless trips to peace demonstrations in New York and Washington was done despite her years long battle with cancer.

Who will take up the torch?

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

18000 Homes Destroyed - 101 Homes Rebuilt

Dr Jeff Halper of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (icahd.org) will speak in Bridgehampton Thursday evening at 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse, 977 Sag Harbor-Bridgehampton Turnpike.

Also Dr. Halper will speak in Bellport at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 51 Brown's Road at 7 pm Friday.

The title of Dr. Halper's talk is "Peace or Apartheid, Indeed".


He will outline the nature of the present occupation of the West Bank which Israel intends to be permanent, explaining how a "Matrix of Control" is used to isolate Palestinians from their land, from each other and from Israelis.

Halper promises also to talk "about where we are at this moment, teetering on the edge of apartheid" and why he believes "that a two-state solution permitting a truly sovereign and VIABLE Palestinian state has been eliminated by Israel's settlement enterprise"

He will put forward a proposal for a confederation of middle eastern states, after establishment of a Palestinian state. He will invite discussion from the audience.



Halper's organization has been re-building Arab homes destroyed in Israel and the Palestinian territories by Israeli authorities.

Israel-Palestine Films & Lectures

The Committee for Peace in Israel/Palestine and East End Women in Black are pleased to present a unique Israeli view of the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Films and an important talk by Jeff Halper, Coordinator of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions will be presented at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House in Bridgehampton.

Dr. Halper will present his talk on Thursday, October 4 at 7pm.

Monday October 8, 7pm - "Knowledge is the Beginning" a film with
musician Daniel Barenboim and the late Palestinian-American academic and writer Edward Said.

The film focuses on the commitment to peace and harmony by the world-renowned conductor and pianist, Daniel Barenboim. Mr. Barenboim regularly speaks out for peace between Israel and Palestine.

Monday October 15, 7pm "Wall" by Simone Bitton (France)

Israelis look at what the separation barrier has done to them and their Palestinian neighbors. WALL (Mur) is a cinematic meditation on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in which the filmmaker blurs the lines of hatred by asserting her double identity as Jew and Arab. In an original documentary approach, the film follows the separation fence that is destroying one of the most historically significant landscapes in the world, while imprisoning one people and enclosing the other.

October 29 (Monday): Two Presentations on Israel-Palestine by Hazel Kahan and Max
Surjadinata in Bridgehampton at 7pm.

Two presentations on Israel-Palestine will be presented at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse, 977 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton at 7pm

Multi-media presentation: Facing the Wall
by artist and psychologist Hazel Kahan, Ph.D. Dr. Kahan will explore how art is used as a form of resistance to the occupation of Palestine on the separation barrier, Israel's illegal 400-mile structure that includes a 25-foot-high wall in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Max Surjadinata, an Indonesian-American retired pastor and international activist will talk about his participation in the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel of the World Council of Churches. He was stationed in Ramallah where he worked with Palestinian Christian communities.
