March 12 (Saturday) Memorial for War Dead - East Hampton Villge Green at 1:00pmA memorial service starting at 1 pm will be held to honor the dead of the Iraq war. There will be speakers from various religious faiths and relatives of some Long Islanders who died. Names of the dead will be read. Veterans are encouraged to join the service.
There will be 1500 grave markers - crosses, stars of David and cresents- on the Village Green to honor the dead of the Iraq war. They will remain on the Green for one week when they will be moved to Southampton for a service and a march. (See March 19 event below).

March 18-19-20 (Friday-Sunday): NYC Send Off Rally for trip to Fayetteville NC
A rally sponsored by United for Peace and Justice, Military Families Speak Out and others will bring thousands of people of conscience including military families and veterans to Fayetteville, North Carolina, for a march and rally against the war on Iraq.
Fayetteville is the home of Fort Bragg and a center of anti-war activity.
Groups from Long Island and New York City will be travelling from to Fayettville on Friday evening following a send-off rally.

March 19 (Saturday): East End Vets Memorial for Iraq Dead and Anti-War Rally in Southampton 1pmThe 1500 grave markers previously set up in East Hampton that memorialize those who have died in the present war in Iraq will be moved to Southampton on Saturday March 19 at 1pm.
East End Vets will take the grave markers to Southampton Town Hall for marchers to carry in a permited march to Agawam park where an anti-war rally will be held.

March 19 (Saturday): Suffolk ACLU Honors Local Freedom Fighters at Stony Brook 12 NoonSaturday, March 19th, marks the two-year anniversary of the war in Iraq. It is always essential during times such as these that we protect the freedoms that can (and often are) lost.
For that reason, on March 19th, the two-year anniversary of the war in Iraq, the Suffolk NYCLU will be commemorating the contribution to freedom made by members of our community.
The honorees are Catherine Tambini - the Director of "Farmingville", Vic and Charlotte - Founders and Directors of the Cinema Arts Centre and David Kilmnick - the Founder and Director of Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth.
Our honorees have all made a major difference in the rights that underlies individuality, expression, openness, association, speech and protest.

March 20(Sunday): North Fork Vigil for Peace in Greenport at 4 pm
Speeches and candlelight vigil calling for an end to the war will be held at Mitchell Park in Greenport behind the carousel on March 20th at 4:00. A solemn ceremony is planned honoring those men and women who have died in the Iraq war. Photographs of all who have died will be displayed in a sanctuary along the boardwalk. Local clergy and veterans are expected to speak.
