Hiroshima Day

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

This year our annual community dedication to peace will be marking the 63rd anniversary of the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima , Japan .

Gather on sidewalk adjacent to Woodland Cemetery on Station Road in Bellport

at 6:45 PM for candlelight procession that begins at 7:00 PM.

(you can take Station Rd south from either Sunrise H or Montauk H to the cemetery)

The candlelight peace procession will go to the Bellport Bay (about 15 minute walk) where there will be a program of music, talks and poetry. This year we are happy to have Mac Bica of Veteran’s For Peace and local activist-singer Catherine Synan Greene.

Please join the South Country peace Group as we mark this solemn occasion.

Following the outdoor program (approximately 8:30 PM) please join us for refreshments at the Bellport Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located at 51 Browns Lane —a 5 minute walk from the site of the SCPG program. Please note that the UUFB will serve as a rain location in the event of rain.
