March 24 ( Thursday): "The Oil Connection", LI School Of Americas Watch Presentation in Massapequa at 7:30 pm

In past years the School of the Americas issue was a necessary teaching tool to assist people in understanding the Imperial nature of our policies. With the oil driven invasion and occupation of Iraq that need is not as great since events unfolding before us each day serve that purpose.
For this reason keep March 24 open so you can be part of a presentation, at Massapequa Public Library at Bar Harbor, 40 Harbor Lane in Massapequa Park.

Monthly meeting of East End Vets begins at 6:30 Film at 7:30 followed by public discussion with refreshments. Bridgehampton Bank Community Room. Montauk Hwy and Snake Hollow Road in Bridgehampton.

March 27(Easter Sunday): Vigil for Peace in Patchogue at 6:00 pm

The South Country Peace Group, Pax Christi and Women In Black sponsor the 14th Monthly Candlelight Vigil in Patchogue at the Four Corners (Ocean and Main Streets).

A memorial to all those who have died in the Iraq War inlcuding a reading of the names of some who have died.

What better day than to stand as a presence for peace than on the day of the celebration of the resurrection of the Prince of Peace?

Bring a candle or flashlight.
Bring a friend along.

Local band 'Jack's Waterfall' and singer/songwriter Leslie Mendelson will apppear in concert at Berkner Hall, Brookhaven National Lab on Friday, April 1, 8 pm

The Laboratory is located on William Floyd Pkwy (CR 46) one and a half miles north of Exit 68 of the LIE. Visitors 16 or older will need a photo ID to enter the Lab.

On April 10th Jared Feuer will speak at the South Country Library in Bellport from 2-4 pm. His topic will be Security, Liberty, and the US Patriot Act. This library is located at 22 Station Road in Bellport.

April 11 (Monday): Panel Discussion on 'The Patriot Act and You" in Southampton at 7pm

How much is too much to promise in return for 'protection against terroism'? The Patriot Act, passed in October 2001 (without most of Congress having read it), is scheduled either to expire or be renewed in December 2005.

A panel discussion on the Patriot act will be held at the Morris Meeting Room of the Rogers Memorial Library on Meeting House Lane in Southampton on Monday April 11 at 7pm.

Speakers are Bill Murphy (Rogers Library board president), Mackie Finnerty (attorney), Carol Mellor, attorney) and Barbara Jordan of the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons.

The panel and audience will discuss such topics as the right of government to access your library and bookstore records, monitor your computer use or enter your home without notice.

The event is sponsored by The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons and the Rogers Memorial Library.

"Herstory" Writing Workshops in Spanish and English: Thursdays in East Hampton

Every Thursday women come together to share their writing with one another and receive feedback on how to structure and shape their life writing.

The East Hampton workshop is open to East Hampton Town residents. It meets every Thursday, 7-9 p.m., at the Senior Citizens Center, 128 Springs-Fireplace Road.
