Facing the Wall - Art as Resistance - Riverhead March 15

THIS PRESENTATION HAS BEEN CANCELLED ... will be re-scheduled for June

Facing the Wall - Art as Resistance - Presentation by Hazel Kahan in Riverhead at 11 am

The separation wall, Israel's 400-mile, 25-foot-high barrier in the occupied Palestinian territories, has created an outpouring of resistance art. Hazel Kahan travels frequently to Israel and the West Bank where she has interviewed Israeli and Palestinian artists and others, including a Palestinian before and after the wall was built around his village.

In this multimedia presentation, which includes a large number of images of the powerful art and graffiti that have appeared on the wall and about the wall, Hazel Kahan brings her perspective as artist and psychologist to analyze the effects of the enormous barrier on adults and children who live on the ‘right’ and the ‘wrong’ side of the wall.

The presentation will be at East End Arts Council at 133 East Main Street, Riverhead from 11 am to 12Noon.

Fee: $10 EEAC members, $15 non-members
