Why: Miller Place resident, John White, a black man, was recently found guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of Daniel Cicciaro, Jr., who was white. Questions have been raised by the defense attorneys, jurors, journalists, and observers regarding whether or not justice was served in this trial. Eastern LI Branch NAACP President, Lucius Ware said,
"the county of Suffolk has been pushed back by generations with this decision. This is a trial that would have been common in the Deep South generations ago.
