Zellner Wins Federal Court of Appeals Judgement

The National Civil Rights Coordinating Committee (NCRCC), co-chaired by Julian Bond and Bob Zellner, announced on July 20 that Bob Zellner, Civil Rights activist and author, has won his final suit in the Federal Court of Appeals against the New York State Troopers. Mr. Zellner was injured in February 2000 in the Parrish Pond Development incident while representing the Town of Southampton as co-chair of the Anti-Bias Task Force. The State of N.Y. appealed Mr. Zellner’s favorable Federal Court jury verdict awarding damages for false arrest, malicious prosecution, injury and denial of civil rights.

A separate case against the New York State Police launched by three members of the Shinnecock Nation who were arrested and beaten during the same incident by was heard in Federal Court Islip earlier this year.
