Five war protesters were arrested Saturday afternoon April 15 for carrying signs on the sidewalk of East Hampton's busy MainStreet.
The five were Dan Steiger of Sag Harbor, Kathy Engel and Ella Engel-Snow of Sagaponack, Paula Agugelo and Conor Wolf.
Some of the signs they carried were memorial panels honoring dead US soldiers. The signs were confiscated for evidence by East Hampton Village Police.
The police said protesters were obstructing pedestrian traffic. Those arrested will have a day in Court on May 4 when photos of dead US soldiers will be introduced as evidence.
About 150 people participated in the Tax Day protest called by a coalition of religious and anti-war groups.
