January 15 (Sunday): Interview with Rev. Holly Haile Davis of Shinnecock Nation on WUSB 90.1 FM Sunday 7-8 pm

On "Get Up Stand Up" this Sunday (7-8PM) on WUSB 90.1 FM the Rev. Holly Haile Davis of the Shinnecock Nation will be joining us to discuss the historical and current struggles of the Shinnecock and what Long Islanders can do to build future solidarity with the tribe.

Also Jean Friedman-Rudovsky (Womens Educational Media & Narco News) who has spent the last 8 mos. living in Bolivia will be joining us to discuss the recent election of Evo Morales (Movement Towards Socialism) as president of Bolivia.

"Get Up Stand Up" is hosted by Matt Hegedus on 90.1FM WUSB Stony Brook alternating Sundays from 7-8pm (Jan 15, 29 , Feb 12).

January 16 (Monday): Martin Luther King Day Breakfast in Southampton at 10am

Music, food and talk are the features of the annual M.L. King Day breakfast at the Rogers Memorial Library on Windmill Lane in Southampton. The Eastern LI Psalmist Choir will sing. Retired Southampton teacher and Library staffer Hortense Gordon will be the featured speaker. The program starts at 10 am.

January 26(Thursday): Jobs with Justice Delegate Assembly in Commack at 8am

Our next Delegate Assembly is set for Thursday January 26th.
Breakfast is at 8am.

The meeting will take place at CSEA in Commack.

These meetings are open and welcoming to new faces.
An agenda will be sent out prior to the meeting.

"Herstory" Writing Workshops in Spanish and English:

Mondays in Farmingville:

Herstory Writers Workshop meets every Monday afternoon at the Farmingville branch of the Workplace Project from 3 to 5. Both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking women come together to share and shape their life experiences through memoir writing. The workshop is conducted in both English and Spanish. Call 631-723-0150 for more information and directions to the center.

Thursdays in East Hampton:

Every Thursday women come together to share their writing with one another and receive feedback on how to structure and shape their lifewriting.The East Hampton workshop is open to East Hampton Town residents. It meets every Thursday, 7-9 p.m., at the Senior Citizens Center, 128 Springs-Fireplace Road.

Second Tuesday each month: South Fork Chapter - LI Progressive Coalition Meets in Water Mill at 6:30pm

The regular monthly meeting of the South Fork chapter of the Progressive Coalition is at 6:30pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Lutheran Church on Montauk Highway & Hayground Rd. between Water Mill and Bridgehampton.
