Calendar Update: Speak Out for Jail Alternatives
Suffolk County's Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee (CJCC) has published a report that outlines 29 recommendations that could potentially reduce the size of the jail by 460 beds, eliminating the need for a "super jail". In light of this news we're asking all supporters of alternatives to incarceration to voice their approval of the new findings at the Suffolk County Legislature on Tuesday, June 7 at 9am. The Legislature meets at the Rogers Auditorium, Legislature
Building 725 Veterans Memorial Highway Hauppauge, NY
For more information or if you'd like to speak, contact Maurice at 516-541-1006 ext.16 or email maurice@lipc.org.

Support these workers!
This is a message from the director of the Workplace Project
We ask that you support this campaign and spread the
word! Many of the workers who work for Mayco cleaning
the Newsday building are immigrant workers and some
are Workplace Project members as well as being active
members of SEIU 32BJ. Mayco has had them working for
months without a contract and is now threatening to
fire them for their collective action.
