October 16 (Sunday): "Winter Soldier" film on Vietnam Atrocities plus Vets for Peace Speak in Huntington at 2pm
"Winter Soldier" is the 1972 documentary record of Vietnam vets testimony on atrocities.
Members of Veterans for Peace who served in the Vietnam and Iraq wars will hold a Q & A session immediately following the showing.

Cindy Sheahan will speak at the CCB building, Monday October 17 at 11:15am and 2:15pm. The building is on Davis Avenue at Nassau Community College off Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale
Seating is limited and students will be given preference. Everyone must present a Photo ID.

October 18 (Tuesday): "Operation Dreamland" Film documentary and Speaker on Iraq Invasion in Huntington at 7:30pm
The film Operation:Dreamland plus guest speaker Joseph Wood who served with the 82nd Airborne in Iraq and appears in the film.
"Operation: Dreamland" follows a company of soldiers into combat and is the premier trope of war movies. In our age of handheld cameras and embedded journalists, the invasion and occupation of Iraq has generated a documentary version more intimate and intense than any fictional narrative.

Speaking in the Negative: Sgt. Benjamin Patti, Army Recruiter for Eastern Long Island, served
in Kosovo and Iraq and received the Army Commendation Medal for Valor and the Bronze Star.

The Annual George Goodman Symposium features Phil Donahue and Michael Ratner.
Phil Donahue is the former Emmy-winning host of the Donahue Show and contributor to the NY Times and the Washington Post.
Michael Ratner is President of the Center for Constitutional Rights, a non-profit human rights organization in New York City. He is author of Guantanamo: What the World Should Know.

"Herstory" Writing Workshops in Spanish and English:
Mondays in Farmingville: Herstory Writers Workshop meets every Monday afternoon at the Farmingville branch of the Workplace Project from 3 to 5. Both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking women come together to share and shape their life experiences through memoir writing. The workshop is conducted in both English and Spanish. Thursdays in East Hampton: Every Thursday women come together to share their writing with one another and receive feedback on how to structure and shape their lifewriting.The East Hampton workshop is open to East Hampton Town residents.
