Sadly, Tuesday, October 25 marks the day the 2000th solider died in Iraq.
American Friends Service Committee, Military Families Speak Out, Gold Star Families for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, MoveOn, United for Peace and Justice... are calling for people across the U.S. to stand and say NO to the needless killing of U.S. troops and Iraqis.
People are gathering in communities across the United States to honor those who have died and to say NO to war.
The following vigils are scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th in Suffolk County

Greenport: 4pm Mitchell Park, in front of the carousel
Huntington: 4:30 Park Avenue and Rte. 25A, northwest corner, diagnoally across from Mobile Station
Lindenhurst: 4pm Military Recruiting Station, 195 Wellwood Ave, just south of Lindenhurst LIRR, 1/3 mile norh of Montauk Highway
Melville: 4:30-6:30 Camp Casey Long Island, 135 Pinelawn Rd., in front of the offices of Senators Clinton and Schumer
Patchogue: 4pm Military Recruiting Station, just east of North Ocean Avenue
Sag Harbor: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Sag Harbor Wharf, Route 114 and Main Street
Setauket: 5:30-7:30 Bennetts Rd and Rte 25A, CVS parking lot
Stony Brook: 4:30-5:30 Corner Rte 347 and Border's Bookstore
