June 30 (Thursday): Patriot Games Forum on "9-11: The New Pearl Harbor" OR DEMONSTRATION in Huntington at 7 pm
The Huntington Library has informed the Huntington Chapter of the Long Island Progressive Coalition that the June 30 approval of the PATRIOT GAMES FORUM is being withdrawn unless the Chapter can produce a $1,000,000.00 liability insurance policy covering the event.
Marc Klein of the LIPC/Huntington Chapter says "This sorry state of affairs is predicated on the premise that only those who can pay can assemble and speak in public buildings. This is unacceptable and here is what we're going to do:
Planning for the scheduled Thursday, June 30th, 7pm FORUM will be carried out and implemented as if the meeting room will be available.
In the event the space is not open to us, we will hold a DEMONSTRATION/PRESS CONFERENCE in front of the library at 338 Main St. in Huntington instead of the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Suffolk NYCLU will attempt to resolve the matter and uphold our constitutional first amendment rights. If its efforts fail, legal action will be instituted."
The planned program includes a video presentation by David Ray Griffin author of "9-11: the New Pearl Harbor" followed by a discussion.
