Attacker in Hate Crime Negotiating Plea - Taking "Stop Bias" Class

The accused in the Montauk beating of a popular local Latino leader has enrolled in a class normally taken by people convicted of hate crimes.

Mark Dombrowski was charged with third degree assault and a hate crime as a result of the beating of Luis Ochoa in April.

According to Rabbi Steven Moss, the Suffolk Commissioner of Human Rights Mr. Dombrowski has enrolled in a "Stop Bias" class.

The accused attacker previously denied accounts by the alleged victim and witnesses that he beat Ochoa while using racial slurs.

Dombrowski is said to be in the process of negotiating a plea with the Suffolk District Attorney's office.
